REGINA SAYLES

So this is where you all want to find out who I am and where I came from and why I’ve decided to embark on the crazy journey of a singer/songwriter... Well lets see... I grew up in Tiffin, OH a
small town in Northwest Ohio... ever hear of Cedar Point... great roller coasters.. yup it’s about an hour from there. Ohio will always have my heart, it was a great place to grow up and I love
going home to visit. I am blessed with an amazing family. Aunts, Uncles and cousins spread out all over the US and as far as India. I’m very proud to be half Indian. My father is from Kerela,
it’s the southern most part of India. I wish I could speak the language, one day I will....but I’m definitely working on
learning to cook the food!
I was your average high school teenager. I was a drummer in marching band, in choir, drama, played softball and was even a homecoming queen. Yes even this tomboy can clean up from time to time.
I had played guitar since age 10 and was asked at age 16 to join my first rock cover band. At 18 I decided the only way for me to pursue my dreams was to move to New York City. That was me being
slightly naive, but there were some good lessons involved. After being told I was not good enough by a few people in New York, I took the advice of a man who I am convinced was my reason for
going to New York... he told me I was good enough and to try East Stroudsburg University. I spent 3 years in East Stroudsburg and loved it! That is where my solo career and songwriting began.
I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2003 and moved to New Jersey to be closer to NYC. In 2006 after 2 years of hard work and crazy schedules I released my first EP. I am lucky enough
have a brother who is not only a studio engineer, but a producer as well. I’m currently working on new material for a full length, full band CD to be released when? When it’s done.
I realize the older I get that I spent a lot of my life not being aware of the wonderful things around me. Now I appreciate all those things I missed. I’m a very simple person and enjoy the small
joys in life. I’ve found that if you smile at people they think you are crazy, but chances are they will think about it later. All these discoveries in my life have lead me to write the songs I
have written, and I am still very much in the discovery process of writing. There are so many things to write about and I’m still learning how to filter. I’m lucky enough to know what my purpose
is in life and wake up happy everydaythinking about it. Singing has always just made sense to me. It’s like breathing.
These days you can find me playing pretty much where ever people will pay me to play. That includes New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, Ohio and many more places I’m sure. I’m
still playing solo, but can also be found in the company of 3 awesome guys who you can read about on the band page. Jeff, Bryan and Tom are the greatest and together we are The Regina Sayles
Project.
When I’m not singing I love to cook and have been working hard to be better at it. Eating good food is a must in my life. I love to read. History fascinates me and frustrates me all at the same
time. I have for the most part accepted there is no way for me to know it all, and to just be happy learning what I can. Coffee shops are my favorite place to read and write. And being outside
alone in silence is something people rarely take the time to experience but what I can get enough of. I will have a cabin in the woods someday.
So hopefully you learned all you need to know about me. I am amazed by all the love I have been shown by complete strangers in my life who just love my music. I am eternally grateful and never
forget kindness. Thank you for letting me share a little bit about myself with you. I hope to see you all soon.
